The first restaurant, La Polenteria in Soho, opened in 2014 with a menu centered on polenta. During that period, repeated interest in gluten-free options revealed a clear need for a fully gluten-free eatery. This led to the development of London's first gluten-free, all-day Italian food concept with a cosmopolitan twist.
As the concept developed, the main challenge remained the same: creating gluten-free food capable of meeting the expectations of Italian taste. Throughout research and development in both Italy and the UK, gluten-free Italian dining was still largely unfamiliar. After a long process of refinement, the UK's first entirely gluten-free all-day Italian food concept, Lg London Cucina, was launched on the 21st of March 2017.
The focus has remained on honest, authentic food rooted in Italian tradition. Freshly-baked bread, hand-made pasta, rich sauces, and sweet treats are all made using signature gluten-free flour, while authenticity remains central to the overall food philosophy.
Lg London Cucina now includes two premises: The Brompton, London and Mercato Metropolitano, Elephant Castle. The next stage focuses on building a more sustainable lifestyle around the brand, with an expanded range of gluten-free food items, eco-friendly household items, and health and wellness products and services. These developments support the growth of a wider Lg London Cucina community in London.
